UX Designer • Artist
The Whole Picture
Sum of Many Parts
I have a diverse career and educational background that greatly enriches my work as a UX practitioner. My anthropology experience enhances my research skills through observation, active listening, and effective questioning. Teaching has sharpened my ability to communicate clearly and connect with others creatively. As an artist, I've developed iterative problem-solving skills, from idea generation to evaluating outcomes. My role as a small business owner has equipped me with extensive expertise in managing operations and maintaining strong client relationships.
Process
Creating Direction
As a ceramic artist, I understand the concept of process. Starting a project with a vision and progressing through numerous iterations and phases to achieve a result is a skill set I have developed through years of experience. As a UX designer, I apply the same approach. One of my strengths is viewing projects at a high level, asking pertinent questions about goals and direction, and organizing steps into a cohesive action plan. I understand the importance of creativity and flexibility in problem-solving, and I can pivot and adapt to changes while remaining focused on the overarching goal.
Collaboration
Designing Solutions as a Team
As a ceramic artist and UX practitioner, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with individuals from diverse specialties and backgrounds. I have worked closely with designers, clients, corporations, and executives to define and bring their visions to life. While I am naturally a harmonizer and am adept in team settings, I also thrive at working independently and am proactive about seeking support or building a team when necessary.
